 Basic Rules
« Thread Started on Aug 26, 2008, 2:52pm »

General Rules:

  • There is to be no fighting anywhere around the site unless you take it to PM's. While we understand not everyone is able to get along, we do realize that people are capable of acting decent toward each other or simply ignoring them altogether. Either way, fighting will get you a warning for the first offense.
  • Everything on here needs to be PG-13 or lower. This is for both OOC and IC. If you feel the need to go above the PG-13 rating you are required to state so at the very beginning of your first post. Should the rating change later on in the roleplay where it is above the PG-13 rating, just go back and state so in your first post.
  • Stealing is not tolerated anywhere on the site. This means you cannot take anything on the site, or anything that another member has posted and claim it as your own. Doing so will get you banned from the site no exceptions. Stealing is a big thing that we want to avoid as much as possible. There is a zero tolerance policy.
  • If know in advanced that you're going to be away for several days, or even several weeks, please let us know in advanced. At least post in our 'Hello and Good-Bye' board so that we know. This is mainly so that when we do activity checks, your account will not be removed accidentally with you being gone. If you do not post in the right board and your account is gone, you can always re-sign up and submit your character.
  • Whether in OOC or IC, proper spelling and grammar is a must. As this is an advanced Harry Potter Next Generation site, we do not allow chatspeak unless it's something simple as 'Lol' or 'Rofl' anything else is not allowed. We expect members to be able to type full sentences. Spelling isn't such a big deal, but at least try to use Spell Check.
  • You must sign up with your characters first name. When you edit the screen name make sure it includes their first and last name. Not signing up with your characters first name will result in the account in question being removed. Don't sign up with some like 'cutiepie1134'. Also please remember to capitalize the appropriate parts of the screen name.

Creating A Character:

  • Godmodeing and powerlaying of any kind is not allowed in roleplays. These simply mean that you cannot have super powerful characters who can't die. All characters must be able to die. And it also means you cannot control another persons character at anytime during roleplays. Allow members to use their own characters.
  • Keep in mind that is is a Marauder's Era roleplay forum, meaning that this is the era before the Harry Potter Books. This takes place back when James, Sirius, Lupin, and Peter were around. If someone signs up with the name Harry Potter, or any other character from the Harry Potter series who was not in the Marauder's era, they will be deleted. So make sure the character was from this time before making the account.
  • You are only allowed three characters and only three accounts. This means you need only one character per account, so three characters in all. Remember you will need to sign up with their first and last names only, nothing extra.
  • Only one of the three characters that you can own can be a canon character. This meaning that out of the three you own, one of them can be a canon character and two of them can be your own character. Or all three can be your own character. Keep in mind though canon's are important, thus meaning we do hold higher preference toward canon characters for the time being.
  • You will not be able to choose the house that your character is in. All houses will be chosen at the time of registration. After you've submitted your profile, a staff member will look over it, and when they accept it, they will tell you what house your character will be in. Do not complain about the hose you're put in. We do the best we can to make things fair and match houses with characters. You cannot request a specific house at the time of registration or you will be put in a different house and you cannot request to change houses later on.
  • When filling out your profile, if you are a student you can only choose up to three classes in which you want your character to participate in. This will in sure that you can be active in all of the classes without feeling over whelmed.
  • To go along with the above statement, it's important that you realize you will be required to participate in the classes you sign up for. If you do not do so, after not coming to class three times in a row you will lose house points for your house.
  • Also keep in mind that classes will be every other two weeks, with a week off in between so Professors have a bit of a break. Therefore it is important that Professors and Students alike stay as active as humanly possible in the time of classes. It's okay if you can't.
  • When you are submitting your profile, the subject of that profile must be as follows: LAST NAME, First Name. Meaning that when you are filling in the subject line it should look like this CROSS, Kris, of course with your characters name instead of mine. If you do not follow this it will be a clear sign that you have not read the rules and you will be asked to go through the rules again.
  • No canon remakes! This means you cannot have a character from another show as a canon character. This site is specifically for Harry Potter and that's how it will stay. You can use a picture from another to show for your character, but everything else must be your own.
  • When applying for a character please follow the template we've provided you with. We did not make the template for our own health. Everything on it are things we found to be essential, therefore, we ask you to abide by it. If not it will be automatically denied.
  • Also if you're new to the site and it's the middle of the term, act it out as though your character already knows their classmates. It's impossible that a person who has been at Hogwarts for three years already will not know there classmates, they should have at least seen them around somewhere.
  • The following character types will not be allowed on the site, as they are over done as it is.
  • Any foreign character, that is to say anyone outside of Britain. You must get permission from a staff member for this.
  • Any sort of orphaned character who's parents have died. Once again you need to get permission for this.
  • Mary-Sue's/Gary-Stu's. No character is ever perfect. All characters have downfalls.
  • Goth's or Emo's. In the Harry Potter world, you don't run into them too often. Avoid using them.

  • Do not post unfinished profiles. Those simply take up too much space and we don't want to deal with them. Any and all unfinished profiles will be automatically denied.
  • You have a week from the last time a staff member has posted to make changes they've asked for or the profile will be automatically denied.

Roleplaying Rules:

  • Keep in mind that this is an Advanced roleplay, meaning we expect our members to post a few paragraphs. The minimum is three paragraphs consisting of at least five sentences. We encourage members to go above and beyond that though in roleplays as well. Keep in mind anything below par is unacceptable. As this is Advanced you need to try your best.
  • Try to be active in your roleplays. We understand things might come up, but if you get the chance please notify someone if you're not going to be on for so long. Don't just avoid replying to threads.
  • Your character(s) can be in as many threads as you think you can handle. However if you move to a new location, please create a new thread and state in the previous thread that it's been moved and where it's been moved to.
  • Relationships with other characters are allowed, however if you do a few graphic scenes, please put a huge warning on the top of the very first post so that everyone knows that there might be scenes unsuitable for them in it.
  • Keep all texts simple, this meaning you are not to add any extra colors to texts, at least in roleplays. Outside of roleplays that is fine, but nowhere will it be allowed for the fact that it's so much easier to read if there are no fancy colors.
  • All posts must be done in third person. We will not allow a post to be done in first or second person, as it is so much harder to keep track of any other way.
  • When submitting your Profile the last field on it should be 'Anything Else?' at that point a secret code is required. If you've made it this far through the rules then congratulations. The word you need to enter in that field is 'Ashwinder'
  • Have fun. The entire reason the site was created was for members to have fun and enjoy roleplaying and talking to fellow Harry Potter fans.

Rules Cbox
• No fighting in the Cbox. Debates are welcomed, but fights will result in a ban for all involved.

• All Advertisements and Affiliation requests need to be in the proper board, not the Cbox.

• Keep everything on here PG. We do have minors looking at the site as well.

• Guests are more then welcome to post if they have a question reguarding the site in anyway.

• Have fun. This was made for everyone just to have a good time, and we would like to keep it that way.
